2018 Shane Yates Aspiring Leaders Institute - Session 1

The OSU Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43210

Once again this fall, the Ohio Society of Association Executives will be offering the Shane Yates Aspiring Leaders Institute to members who are interested in completing the leadership course and more fully developing their leadership and management skills. The program will be three full-day courses beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m., and each will be held once more at the Fawcett Event Center at the Ohio State University.

The Shane Yates Aspiring Leaders Institute is OSAE's cohort-based leadership development program designed to develop essential skills, to strengthen and build the professional careers and to encourage the involvement of entry-and mid-level association executives while strengthening community within OSAE. The curriculum was created for individuals committed to taking their leadership to the next level and who want to make a significant impact on their organizations and the association community. The program includes sessions organized around the following themes:

  • Authentic Leadership Communication & Strategy
  • The Board Governs, the Staff Manages
  • Ins & Outs of Relationships in the Workplace
  • Effective Behaviors for Meaningful Leadership
  • Internal to External Customers
  • Association Essentials: Financial & Membership Competency

In addition to developing the program, OSAE's sister organization, the OSAE Foundation, recognizes the value of the program and, thus, has committed to underwriting two fellowships for students who enroll in this year's program. Individuals interested in the scholarship should send a letter to osaef@osae.org explaining their situation, stating the reason why they feel they should be a recipient of the scholarship and how they intend to use the knowledge they gain from the program to better themselves and Ohio's association community.

The deadline to apply to the program is Oct. 19, 2018.

In addition to the initial session on Oct. 30, 2018 at the Fawcett Event Center, there will be two more full-day programs on Nov. 13 and Nov. 27. Boxed lunches will be provided to participants.
