The Ohio Society of CPAs, an influential statewide professional organization, is seeking an experienced, dynamic professional to lead the organization to the next level of performance in its use of technology, data, and information. The CIO is a valued member of the executive leadership team, working closely with all staff leaders of the organization to advance strategic objectives driving value for members, customers, and the businesses they serve.

The CIO will be a conceptual thinker, as well as a proficient team leader and effective communicator. S/he will lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive strategy for solutions-oriented services that meet the evolving needs of the association and marketplace.

The CIO will first be a “business leader who understands technology,” a valued partner and trusted guide to colleagues in innovative, effective approaches to deliver products and services, and build relationships important to members. Key responsibilities:

  • As conceiver of the “art of the possible,” partner with senior leadership to identify solutions to drive business value, engage customers, share knowledge on new approaches, resolve user challenges and assess marketplace obstacles and opportunities for business success
  • Run the information business of the organization, balancing supply and demand, ensuring quality, evaluating business impact, risk management, performance and costs
  • Motivate, develop and retain talent who can respond rapidly to the changing needs of the organization
  • Raise the sophistication of users’ ability to leverage analytics to provide data-driven insights to frontline decision makers
  • Engage elected leaders on OSCPA’s vision, opportunities and challenges
  • Develop mutually productive and accountable relationships with current and prospective partners to solve relevant challenges and accelerate ideas
  • Scan the environment to understand current and emerging marketplace trends
  • Identify opportunities to position the association as a leader in solutions identification and implementation to create impact and customer value

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience leading teams and engaging across an organization to achieve successful business outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and measuring the success of enterprise-wide strategies to deliver on the organization’s mission
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including presentation, negotiation, networking and facilitation
  • Able to articulate enterprise strategies, challenges and opportunities
  • Solutions orientation, with strong analytical, problem solving and listening capabilities
  • Able to anticipate, identify, analyze, and respond to market opportunities
