Association for Middle Level Education

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Professional Development

  • Plan programs, services, and special events to support professional development objectives based on the strategic plan.
  • Evaluate all professional development programs and recommend program modifications or creation of new programs and services, based on research and objectives.

School Improvement

  • Manage the school assessment products and services.
  • Facilitate assessment data analysis.
  • Develop and implements long-term, short-term, and customized professional development services.

Curriculum

  • Facilitate integration of content with other association efforts.
  •  Develops curriculum based on the tenets of This We Believe and integrates this content into association offerings.

Speaking

  • Present speeches that are convincing and capture an audience's attention on middle level education to a live audience.
    • Present at conferences, webinars, and workshops. 

General

  • Demonstrate initiative and reliability; take on tasks, follow through, and readily assist others in meeting targets and goals.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with school districts, state departments of education, and the association affiliates to gain collaborative support for the association products and services.
  • Assist in the development of budgets and monitor expenses and revenue against budgets.

Position Requirements:

  • Advance middle level education degree/experience.
  • Experience working in an education setting as an educator or administrator, preferably in the middle grades.
  • Develop and deliver presentations.
  • Develop, direct, and manage on-site speaker cadre.
  • Develop collaborative relationships.
  • Manage the school assessment products and services.
  • Develop curriculum based on This We Believe.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
