Content and Community Manager

The Ohio Society of CPAs

The Ohio Society of CPAs seeks a Content and Community Manager to advance the reputation and influence of CPAs and The Ohio Society through innovative communications, public relations and community-building projects. The successful candidate will:

  • Advance original story ideas for OSCPA communications channels. Interview subject matter experts and write compelling content to engage and inform members and nonmembers.
  • Manage OSCPA’s social media channels and strategy, and execute online campaigns that advance business goals and engage a diverse audience.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to develop and launch a community strategy to drive member engagement.
  • Write and post content to Special Interest Sections.
  • Plan and develop presentations for OSCPA’s CEO-led program, Advance, including working with OSCPA staff and subject matter experts to develop content for two live four-hour events and two hours of online content annually.
  • Develop and execute public relations and social media campaigns targeting a variety of audiences to advance OSCPA’s business and advocacy goals of creating a premier business climate and growing the profession.
  • Position OSCPA’s CEO as the voice of OSCPA, driving member value and organizational growth (includes securing speaking engagements, media interviews, writing columns or blog posts, and preparing talking points).
  • Develop relationships with media and other influencers in the accounting space who will support OSCPA positions and share our content with their own networks through social media and more traditional communications channels.
  • Screen and respond to media inquiries and prepare OSCPA staff and members for interview opportunities.
  • Write articles, fact sheets, backgrounders and press release materials for both print and digital distribution.
  • Maintain The Society’s online press center and other sections of the OSCPA website.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis on writing and/or digital content plus three to five years in a digital or other communications role in a corporate or not-for-profit organization serving a business or professional services audience; or an account executive in a marketing communications agency. Comparable experience in government will be considered.

Skills:

  • Excellent and diverse writing, editing, and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated experience writing for both print and digital media
  • Active social media user experience plus experience developing strategy for mainstream social media channels or private online forums.
  • Must have a strong understanding of current promotional features of Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snap Chat and other emerging social platforms.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal economic and business issues, as well as experience developing or working PR or grassroots campaigns with an advocacy or issues focus preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel, PowerPoint and other graphics or presentation software, and CMS tools. Must be Familiar with content management and email marketing systems, as well as basic HTML coding preferred but not necessary.
