Central Ohio Leader Honored for her Work in Local Construction Industry

Former Builders Exchange of Central Ohio executive director heralded for her work


Cathy Blackford Former Executive Director Builders Exchange Of Central OhioThe Builders Exchange of Central Ohio (BX), Ohio's largest commercial construction association, honored Cathy Blackford, its former executive director, as the first female recipient of the Cornerstone Award during the 124th BX Annual Meeting on Nov. 17.

Since 1954, the BX Cornerstone Award has recognized an individual for leadership in the community and the construction industry. This year, more than 800 attendees were registered for the BX Annual Meeting.

Blackford began her 35-year career at the exchange soon after earning a bachelor's degree in journalism from The Ohio State University and held several positions prior to becoming executive director in 1994. Blackford spearheaded multiple BX programs and initiatives that helped launch it into the organization it is today.

In addition to her BX involvement, Blackford has volunteered on several boards and is currently active with Buckeye Leadership Fellows and The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Alumni Advisory Board. She is a judge for the Better Business Bureau "Torch Award for Ethics" and is a longtime member of Charity Newsies.
