Rescue Dogs - Really

In surprising ways, associations often play direct and indirect roles in changing lives

Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association: With many of its roads and railways threading through mountainous terrain, Canada is on constant avalanche alert. Standing by 24/7 are teams of search and rescue dogs and their handlers, trained and certified in lifesaving skills through the Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association.

United States Police Canine Association: Many of the no-nonsense police dogs guarding the nation’s airports and other high-security public areas were trained and certified through the United States Police Canine Association. The dogs work on general patrol and protection or in such specialized fields as arson, narcotics, and explosives.

Search and Rescue Dogs of the United States: Through its Returning Soldier Initiative, Search and Rescue Dogs of the United States gives military members who are returning to civilian life the chance to continue serving their communities by becoming certified search and rescue dog handlers. SARDUS provides the puppies or adult dogs, training, and mentors free of charge.
