Studying Society

There are multiple ways in which emotions matter in racial affairs

The American Sociological Association’s (ASA) 113th Annual Meeting begins this weekend in Philadelphia. Attendance is expected to exceed 5,000.

More than 5,000 researchers, educators, practitioners, decision-makers and students involved in the scientific study of society will make their way to Philadelphia this week to share knowledge and new directions in research and practice.

Following pre-conferences and courses earlier in the day, ASA 2018 will start Friday evening with an opening plenary and welcome reception. The plenary session will feature a panel of university-based sociologists who will discuss the multiple ways in which emotions matter in racial affairs.
