Ohio Farmers React to Increased Tariffs and Possible Chinese Retaliation

The deal was expected in March

President (Donald) Trump is betting on an eventual agreement with the Chinese government, but farmers throughout the country continue to feel the effects of the ongoing trade war. The Trump administration more than doubled the tariffs on roughly $200 billion worth of Chinese imports Friday after the two sides could not come to an agreement. China is expected to retaliate.

The American Soybean Association released a statement saying farmers expected a deal back in March.

We spoke with Central Ohio soybean farmer Bret Davis. Davis is also the Secretary of the American Soybean Association.
