Senate Finance Committee Chairman Charles Grassley (R-IA) told reporters last week that momentum has stalled to extend a series of expired or soon-to-expire tax breaks for biodiesel production and other industries.
“Whether it’s the biodiesel credit or any one of the other extenders – 27 today and five more are going to be added by Dec. 31 – I don’t see the interest of Democrats in tax extenders like they’ve traditionally had,” Grassley said.
Grassley and Senate Finance ranking member Ron Wyden (D-OR) said they continue to talk with tax-writers in the House to negotiate a tax extenders deal in a year-end package, though if the House voted to impeach President (Donald) Trump a potential Senate trial would limit floor time for legislation in the limited weeks left in this session.
“Chairman Grassley and I, and our counterparts in the House, continue to talk,” Wyden told Bloomberg Tax.
