Columbus City Council Creates $1 Million Food and Rent Fund

The fund was established for families affected by COVID-19

Columbus City Council on Monday created a $1 million emergency human services fund for families needing help with food and housing costs because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“COVID-19 is going to hit Columbus families hard, especially parents working hourly jobs,” said Council President Shannon Hardin in a statement. “This is a first step of a larger city and community effort to step up for our neighbors in need.“

The money comes from the general fund. The city is working with area nonprofits on implementation.
