With Ohio’s primary election postponed from Tuesday to June 2, voters can continue casting mail-in ballots or cast a ballot in person on the new Election Day, according to Secretary of State Frank LaRose.
The state’s voter registration deadline has not been extended, however, meaning that anyone who hasn’t registered by Feb. 18 still will not be allowed to cast a ballot, according to a directive from the Hudson Republican to county elections officials.
However, it remains to be seen whether LaRose’s directive, issued on his own authority, will remain in place for long. Ohio House leaders announced Tuesday they are looking to convene to pass legislation to adopt, change or extend the state’s primary election date.
