Retired Educators Offer Mentoring Help:
With students stuck at home far from the confines of a physical school, there is an increasing need for additional educators who can keep kids learning.
Fortunately, the Illinois Retired Teachers Association (IRTA) knows a few of those. The group has pledged to offer students mentoring services during the COVID–19 crisis on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Mentoring allows for a more one-on-one approach that could help students tackle more challenging subjects, says IRTA President John Flaherty, while keeping younger students focused on a new type of learning.
