Philanthropy Ohio

Philanthropy Ohio is a statewide membership association for organized philanthropy. Its vision is a just and vibrant Ohio through impactful philanthropy, with a mission to lead and equip Ohio philanthropy to be effective, powerful change agents in our communities.

Members are community and private foundations, corporate contributions programs, individuals, giving circles, government, federated funds including United Ways and other grantmaking organizations. Incorporated in 1984, Philanthropy Ohio is a 501(c) (3) organization headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, with a regional office (serving northern Ohio) located in Cleveland. They have over 200 members which collectively hold over $50 billion in assets from which they award over $4 billion in grants to nonprofits in a typical year. Philanthropy Ohio is a member of the United Philanthropy Forum, the national umbrella organization for the country’s philanthropy serving organizations, including 35 regional associations like themselves.

Position Summary:

The Director, Public Policy, supports the organization’s advocacy strategies for internal and external audiences, helping to: implement annual legislative agendas; build relationships with state and federal policy makers; monitor issues and legislation; manage member coalitions; and educate members on key policy issues. This is a full-time, exempt position based in the Columbus office.
