Current updates on association response to the global COVID-19 crisis, along with a roundup of conference, travel and business news and information.

Getting Ready for Play
Of the many headaches COVID-19 (coronavirus) caused for kids, perhaps one of the biggest might be the closure of local playgrounds. But a national nonprofit, along with an industry task force, is working to get these playgrounds reopened in the safest ways possible. KABOOM!, a nonprofit working to end inequity in play spaces, has convened a number of association pros, including officials from the American Public Health Association (APHA), the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), as members on its task force to develop guidelines for reopening playgrounds.

The task force, which also includes officials from the Brookings Institution and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation among others, has recommended three categories of steps for having a safe reopening, including: prioritizing equity in analyzing when a playground can reopen, putting together a plan for reopening with reasonable limits, and adding elements to the playground (such as sanitizing stations and signage) that allow for reopening.
