Current updates on association response to the global COVID-19 crisis, along with a roundup of conference, travel and business news and information.

Crafting a Way Through Quarantine
Help Heal Veterans, a nonprofit that creates and distributes therapeutic craft kits to injured and recuperating veterans, is working with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to supply the kits to those who are isolated because of COVID-19.

The nonprofit usually distributes between 350,000 to 400,000 kits a year, but has delivered nearly 150,000 in the past two months alone. Crafting can aid recovery from medical issues common to veterans, including PTSD, chronic pain and injuries that affect motor skills. It can also help pass long days and weeks for veterans who are self-isolating, whether as a protective measure or because they are in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19.

“Staying home, just for our health’s sake, those kits helped pass the time,” said veteran Mark Kaleimamahu to ABC News. “It relieved a bunch of stress, anxiety, and they were fun to do—along with helping us mentally, spiritually and physically.”
