Nationwide Children's Hospital Receives New $3.3 Million Grant

The funds were among those provided to U.S. freestanding, children's hospitals

Recently, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded Nationwide Children’s Hospital nearly $3.4 million through its Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) Payment Program.

The CHGME payment program provides federal funds to the nation’s freestanding, children's hospitals to help them maintain their graduate medical education (GME) programs that train resident physicians and dentists. The CHGME Program enables hospitals to provide education to medical school graduates, to enhance research capabilities and to care for vulnerable and underserved children.

In response to the grant, U.S. Representative Joyce Beatty (D-OH), expressed her support.

“The importance of highly-trained doctors and medical professionals cannot be overstated—especially as our nation continues to grapple with the COVID-19 Pandemic,” Beatty said. “Every day, we have all seen, heard and read reports about the dedicated men and women on the frontlines who are working hard for all of us. This grant will ensure that they are equipped with the much-needed tools and skills to continue their lifesaving efforts today, tomorrow and for years to come.”
