Lake Erie Shores & Islands Wins Awards

The tourism bureau won recognition for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic

The tourism bureau for Erie and Ottawa Counties, Lake Erie Shores & Islands, won recognition for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ohio Travel Association’s (OTA) Recognizing Uncommon Brilliance Yearly (RUBY) Awards recognize excellence in Ohio’s travel industry for efforts in advertising, marketing and public relations.

This year, the awards focused on how the industry has served others and how businesses have pivoted during the crisis. The Ohio Travel Association awarded the Lake Erie Shores & Islands with a RUBY in the “Spirit of Innovation” category for group care packages for the 50 packages it sent to operators, planners and event organizers. The packages contained coffee, candles or vinegar and oil sets from local businesses.
