Dear CAE Community,
On behalf of the CAE Commission, let me wish all of you a belated Happy New Year and hopes that your organizations have found ways to adapt and reprioritize as we all continue to navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has been inspiring to see how many CAEs recognize the value of the credential now more than ever, as 455 candidates sat for the exam in 2020 during the pandemic, compared to 467 the year before. If you have colleagues or other contacts interested, let them know that the options for in-person or electronic proctoring will continue to be available this year. Application deadlines, fees and administration information can be found on the main CAE information website.
For current CAEs, those originally due to renew in 2020 must submit all renewal information by March 31, 2021. Those due to renew this year should renew by December 31, 2021 as usual. The online CAE renewal portal automatically syncs with ASAE’s AMS, making the process easier.
There are two upcoming projects I would like to share with the CAE Community, and ask your help to accomplish.
The CAE Commission with the Australasian Society of Association Executives (AuSAE) will launch a pilot exam in Australasia in May. We are looking for CAEs who work for organizations that have offices or do substantial work in Australia and New Zealand who would be open to sitting on a virtual panel to talk to Australian CAE candidates. Additionally, the Commission is excited to begin its strategic planning process this month. As a part of our discovery and deliberations, we will be reaching out for feedback and input from the larger CAE Community. I recommend setting up alerts for the Volunteer Opportunities section of Collaborate to make sure you see notifications once we begin soliciting participants.
Even in the middle of unprecedented times, CAEs continue to help their organizations survive and even thrive as we all find better and more efficient ways to help our organizations support their missions.
Know that your CAE Commission remains focused on maintaining the value, rigor and strength of the credential while also focusing on promoting a CAE culture to nonprofits in the US and abroad. Thank you for your continued engagement in this vibrant community and your support of the CAE credential.
