Former ASAE CEO Inducted into EIC Hall of Leaders

John Graham, who died last year, was a respected industry leader

The Events Industry Council (EIC) and the EIC Global Recognition Selection Task Force announced this week the posthumous selection of American Society of Association Executives' (ASAE) former President and CEO John H. Graham IV, FASAE, CAE, for induction in the 2020 EIC Hall of Leaders.

"ASAE is honored and gratified by the selection of our former president and CEO John H. Graham IV, FASAE, CAE, into the Events Industry Council's (EIC) Hall of Leaders," said ASAE President and CEO Susan Robertson, CAE. "John passed away just over one year ago but we think of him every day as we continue his legacy of working to advance the association community. John left an indelible mark on not just ASAE and the other associations he led, but on the entire industry and multiple generations of professionals who have chosen association management as their career path."

Graham was a transformative leader for ASAE and the association community. During his tenure, which began in August 2003, ASAE more than doubled its membership and developed a wealth of innovative products and services to benefit association professionals and their partners. Graham passed away in early 2020, leaving behind an organization well-positioned to serve association leaders in the decades ahead. Graham was also a stalwart advocate for association interests on Capitol Hill and in state houses across the country.

Hall of Leaders is a prestigious recognition program in the meetings, conventions, exhibitions, hospitality and travel industry – a "lifetime achievement award" recognizing outstanding leaders who have transformed the industry. ASAE congratulates other Hall of Leader inductees in this year's class, including Anita Pires, president, Pires Destinations & Events Intelligence, nominated by COCAL; and Jonathan Howe Esq., president & senior partner, Howe & Hutton, Ltd., nominated by MPI. EIC will hold a Hall of Leaders awards ceremony honoring this year's inductees on March 25.
