COVID-19 Update: 1,204 Deaths Reported Today

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 2,799 new cases of COVID-19, 81 hospitalizations and 1,204 deaths. ODH says they are currently reconciling COVID-19 deaths, including about 1,200 in Saturday's count.

On Wednesday, ODH announced that as many as 4,100 COVID-19 deaths may have been underreported through the state's system between October and December.

ODH also reported 937,541 confirmed cases, 16,340 deaths and 48,492 hospitalizations. The department also reported 855,734 presumed recoveries from the virus. According to ODH, 1,239,870 people who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

ODH is now including antigen test results in the total number of cases (confirmed and probable). Governor Mike DeWine said antigen tests are "a bigger part of the overall picture of understanding COVID-19" and that it's important to capture that information.
