Feb. 18, 2021

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 2,282 new cases of COVID-19, 173 hospitalizations and 98 deaths. There is a disclaimer on the data saying the state continues to reconcile the data and the number of deaths will fluctuate.

Last week, ODH announced as many as 4,100 COVID-19 deaths may have been underreported through the state's system between October and December. The death counts had been higher for a few days because of the issue.

ODH also reported 947,389 confirmed cases, 16,611 deaths and 49,061 hospitalizations. The department also reported 876,697 presumed recoveries from the virus. According to ODH, 1,369,627 people who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

ODH is now including antigen test results in the total number of cases (confirmed and probable). Governor Mike DeWine said antigen tests are "a bigger part of the overall picture of understanding COVID-19" and that it's important to capture that information.
