ASAE Video Promotes ‘Power of Associations’

American Associations Day 2021 will take place virtually March 25-26

The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) has created a new video to help educate Capitol Hill about the impact of associations in advance of American Associations Day 2021, ASAE’s legislative fly-in, which will take place virtually March 25-26.

ASAE and other groups that urged Congress last year to expand eligibility to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to include 501(c)(6) organizations encountered numerous misperceptions on the Hill that 501(c)(6) groups are purely lobbying entities and undeserving of PPP access. After a sustained advocacy effort, lawmakers did ultimately expand PPP access to include deserving associations at the end of last year but enhancing awareness of the essential pillars and purpose of America’s associations is still needed.

ASAE encourages its members and grassroots advocates to extend ASAE’s reach by promoting the video on their own social media channels. Also, don’t forget to register for American Associations Day, the only legislative fly-in for association professionals. Participants will learn about association policy issues and gain valuable insights from advocacy experts on topics like “Civil Discourse & The Role of Associations,” “Building a Grasstops Network” and “Strengthening Your Digital Advocacy Campaigns.”

There will also be opportunities to sign up for virtual Hill meetings with your Members of Congress during the weeks to follow. View the agenda here.
