Senate Republicans Block Latest Bid to Suspend U.S. Debt Ceiling

This is the second such action in two days

Republicans in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday blocked an attempt by Democratic leader Chuck Schumer to hold a vote to suspend the federal debt limit.

The measure would have allowed Democrats to raise the borrowing authority on their own, bypassing the chamber's usual 60-vote margin.

This is the second time in two days the Republicans have voted to allow the nation to default on its current debts, including those created by the 2017 TJCA, a multi-trillion dollar tax break secured by the last administration.
