COVID-19 Update: 37,626 New Cases Over Two-day Period

Jan. 2, 2022

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 37,626 new cases of COVID-19 and 138 new hospitalizations. This is a combination of figures reported for the holiday and today. The agency did not report any additional deaths.

Last week, Governor Mike DeWine said COVID-19 hospitalizations are at their highest levels of the pandemic.

ODH also reported 2,053,721 confirmed cases, 29,447 deaths and 96,626 hospitalizations. The agency also reported 1,745,280 presumed recoveries and indicated approximately 7,003,020 Ohioans have received at least one dose of the vaccine. This figure represents approximately 60 percent of Ohioans - a very low figure compared to numbers nationwide.
