The County Engineers Association of Ohio's (CEAO) board of directors recently announced that John Olivieri was approved as the its new executive director; his position became effective Nov. 4, 2024.
Olivieri is a graduate of the Ohio State University and has his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. As a previous employee of the CEAO, he worked closely with the Ohio Department of Transportation and other local government transportation agencies from across the state. He brings with him a breadth of knowledge from both the public and private engineering worlds, having begun his career as the Richland County highway safety coordinator. Since 2004, he worked as a private consultant and managed his own small business.
In addition to his passion for civil engineering, Olivieri has a great sense of community and served as the interim director of the Westerville Convention & Visitors Bureau after serving on its board. He brought forward many great initiatives and collaborations which are still in place in Westerville. He and his wife, Joan, are the proud parents of two adult children; he also served in the U.S. Air Force/Air Force National Guard.
"I always knew how impactful the association was when I worked here in the past, which is why I went back to school to finish my degree," Olivieri said. "I am so excited that I get a chance to lead this association and work side by side with so many great men and women who are advancing the profession of civil engineering and surveying. I'm anxious to begin and make sure that folks all over Ohio understand just how important their county engineers are to the safety and prosperity of our communities."
CEAO members will be able to meet Olivieri in person at its board meeting on Nov. 7, 2024. An open house will be scheduled for its supporting members and community partners to meet Olivieri at a later date following CEAO's annual winter conference.
