Association for Middle Level Education

The Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) is a professional membership organization with more than 53,000 members throughout the United States and around the world who are committed to the education and well-being of young adolescents. The Association advocates for excellence in middle level education and works to meet the needs of principals, teachers and others who serve young adolescents. AMLE seeks an innovative chief executive officer (CEO) to develop strategies and programs that will enable AMLE to serve its stakeholders while maintaining fiscal sustainability. The CEO directs the headquarters staff of eight and more than a dozen independent contractors to carry out the Association’s mission, vision, goals, and strategic plan as developed by the Board of Trustees. The next CEO will be a leader who raises the visibility of this $2.6 million organization and is business-minded in increasing its value for members.

The successful candidate will be an energetic, inspiring leader with a proven track record of strategic thinking and realization of objectives. He/she will be a creative thinker who is success-oriented and has strong financial management skills, a collaborative nature, and the ability to develop strong relationships and to motivate others.

The ideal candidate possesses exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, has a business mindset capable of achieving greater success through creative and effective execution of board approved strategies and programs, has experience working in an association or nonprofit of similar scope, scale, and purpose; and has knowledge of middle level education. The CEO must have integrity and trust beyond reproach, and composure in all situations, especially under stress. Graduate degree and CAE designation are ideal.
