SIOP is seeking a Finance Manager to join our team. This position is responsible for managing the Society’s finances. The ideal applicant will have a proven track record of accurately managing and reporting on financials transactions, development of budgets, and analyzing data for planning purposes. Experience in a nonprofit environment is preferred. The Finance Manager will play a key role in helping the Society maintain financial health and achieve its strategic goals. The position reports to the Executive Director and serves as an adviser to the Financial Officer/Secretary and Executive Board in financial matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Contract management to ensure appropriate procedures followed, retain executed contracts, & ensure contract compliance
  • Complete monthly reconciliations for bank statement, credit card statement, and investment accounts for SIOP Inc., SIOP Foundation, and Alliance for Organizational Psychology
  • Provide monthly financial reports to Executive Director and Financial Officer/Secretary and quarterly reports to Portfolio Officers to monitor progress in meeting budget goals
  • Provide periodic financial reports with detailed analysis of the current results to budget goals with a comparison to prior year for Committee Chairs of major SIOP events
  • Manage administrative staff payroll with payroll service vendor
  • Oversee the cash management function including the bank and investment relationships, portfolio analysis and investment policy statement, and all relevant reporting
  • Coordinate development of the annual budget by working with EB, Portfolio Officers, Committee Chairs, and Financial Officer/Secretary
  • Manage annual audit with independent accountants to produce financial statements for presentation to the EB and ensure annual filings with IRS of 990 and 990-T
  • Monthly management of online donations to the SIOP Foundation and monthly reporting to Foundation’s Treasurer; prepare reconciliations of quarterly donor reports; and prepare annual 990 Tax Form for IRS and file with the State of Ohio
  • Manage an internship program for finance or accounting college student to handle the day-to-day financial tasks
  • Manage insurance benefits program for eligible staff; includes health, dental, short- & long-term disability insurance, term life insurance, and a 401k plan
  • Some travel required

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Finance or Accounting from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years of finance and accounting experience, nonprofit preferred
  • Experience in financial reporting, budget development, payroll, coordinating audit activities, and filing 990 and 990T tax returns
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to effectively collect, analyze, organize, and present information to Society leaders
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel; knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of Association or Content Management Systems (AMS / CMS) preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with others, both internally and externally
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Ability to take the lead on projects and work independently as well as collaboratively on a team
