Director of Membership & Services

Builders Exchange of Central Ohio (Columbus, Ohio)

I. Manage the operations of the BX Membership & Services Department:

  1.  Prepare and manage an annual budget.
  2.  Maintain and establish department policies and procedures.
  3.  Monitor usage of all existing services and facilitate communication between vendors and member  users. Membership services include the BX Workers’ Compensation Group Rating Plan, the BX Health Care Program, and BX-endorsed discount programs for fuel cards, managed care organization, courier service, industry publications, drug-free workplace program, office supplies, fleet management, electricity and credit union.
  4.  Assign tasks to administrative assistant.

II. Coordinate marketing of all membership service programs:

  1.  Develop marketing plan for each services partner and provide internal marketing support to achieve budget.
  2.  Schedule and sell seminars on drug-free workplace, health insurance, workers’ comp, and other timely programs as appropriate.
  3.  Create and/or oversee news articles, brochures and telemarketing for all existing services.
  4.  Coordinate with vendors who are producing marketing materials, to ensure brand consistency.
  5.  Ensure that Membership and Services sections of the BX Website are updated as needed, reviewing at least weekly.

III. Research, develop and evaluate new services, working with task forces and board committees

IV. Manage the operations of the BX Membership Department:

  1.   Assist in preparing and managing an annual dues budget.
  2.  Develop marketing tools/programs for recruiting and sales of new members.
  3.  Monitor and work to retain existing active, associate and senior members.
  4.  Oversee creation of monthly membership reports for the BX board of directors.
  5.  Establish policies and procedures.
  6.  Assign tasks to administrative assistant.

V. Coordinate marketing for membership:

  1.  Develop and implement programs to engage/retain members.
  2.  Create and market incentive programs to recruit members.
  3.  Oversee appropriate recruiting awards for volunteers.
  4.  Coordinate annual retention efforts.

Qualifications (skills, knowledge or education) required to perform the job duties:

Skills: Relationship development, writing, editing, speaking, customer service, marketing, organization, sales, financial and personnel management.

Knowledge: Computer database application, internet, budget development, construction industry service needs, Ohio workers’ compensation system, drug-free safety programs are preferred.

Education: Computer database training, bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications field preferred.

Abilities: Some travel (auto) required; driver’s license and use of automobile required. Serving as a positive team leader and participant, and a positive motivator of coworkers and volunteers is required.

How successful completion is measured:

Director will meet with the Executive Director in third quarter of the fiscal year to review current and next year’s annual operational goals, budgetary targets and department goals. The Director and the Executive Director will meet periodically to discuss progress on these goals. At year end, they will meet to jointly assess achievement of these goals, as well as any new projects that were accomplished during the year.

Position reports to: Executive Director

Staff support includes: Administrative Assistant (75%, or 30 hours per week)
