Program Development Manager

The Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) is the premier professional association for the science and practice of I-O psychology. While an independent organization with its own governance, SIOP also represents Division 14 of the American Psychological Association and is an organizational affiliate of the Association for Psychological Science.

SIOP is seeking a Program Development Manager to manage multiple signature Society initiatives, effectively and professionally partnering with staff colleagues, volunteer leaders, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver successful programs that help to grow SIOP’s impact, both among the membership and externally. This position will monitor and report on program participation and outcomes to identify improvements and inform decision making.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Fellows, Awards, Grants, Scholarships, and similar recognition programs, including:
    • Liaising with and providing guidance and support to the Fellows Committee and Awards Committee leaders and members
    • Serving as the primary contact for questions regarding eligibility, application and review process, and related inquiries for the Fellowship program and 30+ awards, grants, and scholarships
    • Updating program-related content for the website
    • Facilitating the annual call for applications/nominations and review processes, ensuring related software is optimized, in collaboration with the Business Process Manager
    • Preparing reporting for the Executive Board
    • Overseeing the recognition of honorees, including promotional communication and in the context of the Annual Conference, where applicable

  • Partner with Society leadership to support the successful launch of “The DIP” (The SIOP Diversifying I-O Program), including through:
    • Demonstrating support for the program goal of improving diversity and inclusion in I-O psychology
    • Researching options and opportunities for various program aspects in the planning stage
    • Developing communications to introduce the program to SIOP members and prospective participants
    • Coordinating logistics for the program’s virtual conference and related events
    • Supporting the program’s research experience phase, where applicable
    • Planning and providing on-site staff management of the program activities at, and program participant engagement with, the SIOP Annual Conference
    • Serving as the primary staff contact for program participants to ensure a positive SIOP experience

  • Administer the continuing education (CE) program for licensed psychologists and HR professionals, including:
    • Preserving the Society’s good standing as an approved provider of continuing education credit through maintaining awareness of requirements, following program procedures, and submitting required reports
    • Assembling information about educational programming, preparing it for CE Committee review
    • Updating educational program content for the web and other publications to reflect accurate CE details
    • Serving as the primary contact for questions regarding obtaining continuing education credit
    • Evaluating the effectiveness of programming and conducting needs assessments to ensure SIOP is delivering high-quality learning opportunities that meet demand
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned by Executive Director

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in an association or nonprofit
  • Experience in program and project management
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple collaborative projects, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in professional interaction with leadership
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfort with databases and other technology
  • Some travel required (2-3 times/year)
