Behavioral Health Policy Associate

Position Summary: 

The Ohio Council of Behavioral Health & Family Services Providers is seeking to add a new Behavioral Health Policy Associate position to our dynamic public policy team. The new Policy Associate position supports and collaborates to impact public policy and advocacy to advance access to community-based mental health, substance use, and family services across Ohio.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

This position reports to the CEO and is part of a mission-focused, collaborative team dedicated to providing exceptional member services, and technical assistance with best business and clinical practices. The Policy Associate will be responsible for collaborating and supporting our public policy team by:

  • Analyzing state and federal healthcare policies.
  • Assisting in the development of policy positions, state and federal advocacy, and technical assistance briefs.
  • Providing technical assistance to member organizations.
  • Project management support on advocacy and public policy initiatives.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, public policy, business administration, or a related field and have experience in community behavioral health services, child welfare, education, developmental disabilities, social services, related healthcare service delivery, or public policy.
  • State licensure as a behavioral health professional is desired.
  • This individual will also demonstrate strong verbal communication, technical writing, and public speaking skills; proficiency in Microsoft office; experience in reading and analyzing public policy; and the ability to work with members, other behavioral health and social service providers, community partners, and the state administration.
