Business Development Manager

Ohio Craft Brewers Association | Remote/Columbus, OH

Position Summary: 

The Ohio Craft Brewers Association (OCBA) is seeking an enthusiastic individual to manage sponsorships, partnerships, and memberships and to support the staff in the daily operations of the association. The Business Development Manager will play a critical role within the OCBA. It is a business to business, revenue generating position that requires creative thinking and problem solving; managing multiple projects concurrently; a highly self-motivated and outgoing personality; and will support the organization in a variety of projects.

This person will be expected to identify, research, and propose new revenue opportunities, recruit and engage new partners, identify opportunities to provide increased value to current and future members and sponsors, create and execute partnership agreements and fulfill deliverables. Other duties will include working with the current staff on the daily operations, events, and initiatives to further advance the craft beer industry in Ohio. The Ohio craft brewing industry continues to grow and contribute to the local economy and the OCBA continues to grow alongside it with the addition of this position. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities: 

Sponsorships

  • Develop, manage, and implement a sponsorship program
    • Recruit sponsoring partners
    • Negotiate and draft sponsorship agreements
    • Function as the liaison between sponsors and stakeholders to ensure all obligations are fulfilled
  • Sell sponsorship opportunities including, but not limited to:
    • Events – current events plus creating at least one new event strategy
    • Ohio Craft Brewers Conference
    • Ohio on Tap Passport
    • Newsletter Ads

Memberships

  • Assist in building and maintaining CRM
  • Manage current Allied Memberships
    • Serve as the main point of contact for Allied Members
    • Assist with revenue-generating trade show opportunities and quarterly meeting sponsorships
  • Identify and actively recruit new Brewery and Allied Members
    • On-board new brewery and Allied Members
    • Manage renewals of Breweries and Allied Members
  • Quarterly reporting of new memberships generated compared to annual goal

Merchandise

  • Manage both retail and wholesale merchandise programs
    • Suggest innovative ideas to increase merchandise sales revenue
  • Manage merchandise sales at festivals and events

Other

  • Identify, research, and propose new revenue opportunities
  • Attend and assist with OCBA events throughout the state
  • Attend and participate in membership meetings and informal member visits throughout Ohio
  • Attend meetings and assist Membership, Marketing & Events Committees

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in business-to-business marketing or sales
  • Outgoing with strong written and verbal ommunication skills
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to think creatively and take initiative
  • Organization, time management and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service, writing, and editing skills
  • Industry knowledge and a passion for independent Ohio craft beer
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office and Google Drive (including Docs and Sheets)
  • Ability to travel on evenings and weekends
  • Must have reliable transportation, clean driving record, and pass a background check
  • 21+ years of age
  • Responsible consumer of alcohol

Work Environment:

  • This is a full-time remote position with travel required.
  • Ideally located in the Metro Columbus area; exceptions made for exceptional candidates

Compensation/Benefits:

  • Salary is dependent on experience, base with commission opportunities up to $75,000+- 
  • Reimbursement for health, dental, and vision insurance (capped at $8,000/year)
  • Paid time off for holidays and vacation
  • Reimbursement for travel expenses, phone, and Wi-Fi
