Ripperda to Head IRS Tax Exempt Office

She is a long-time IRS official

Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Chuck Rettig announced this week that Tamera Ripperda will lead the agency’s Tax Exempt and Government Entities (TE/GE) division.

The TE/GE division is responsible for oversight of the tax-exempt sector. Ripperda is a long-time IRS official, most recently heading up the IRS Small Business and Self-Employed division and helping oversee the IRS implementation of the 2017 tax law. Prior to 2016, Ripperda was director of IRS Exempt Organizations.

“Tammy brings a variety of skills and expertise to the diverse set of programs overseen by TE/GE,” Rettig said. “She has a strong record of successfully handling critical programs and working closely with people inside and outside the IRS.”

“TE/GE plays a critical role serving key areas for the nation, ranging from tax-exempt groups and retirement plans to Indian tribal governments and tax-exempt bond,” Ripperda said. “I look forward to working with our TE/GE employees and partner groups to continue finding ways to serve these important communities.”
