Column: Democrats, Republicans Alike Want to See a Vote on Critical Bill

OSAE Treasurer Christopher Henney, CAE pens letter supporting Ohio's farmers

The Ohio AgriBusiness Association is a state trade association that represents the best interest of agribusinesses that serve Ohio agriculture. We’ve weathered industry changes, contributed to a solid business environment and are constantly preparing our members to be on the cutting-edge of agricultural advancement. OABA members hail from every sector of agribusiness, representing the manufacturing, wholesale and retail aspects of seed, plant food, crop protection, livestock feed and nutrition, grain marketing and operations, insurance, equipment, financial services and much more.

Our agribusiness members are a crucial part of the Ohio agricultural sector, supplying local farmers with the equipment, supplies and consulting needed to prosper. Just as farmers rely on agribusinesses to meet their needs, our members rely on the success of Ohio farmers and their ability to trade their products freely with our North American neighbors.

For this reason, passage of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement is essential to agribusiness and Ohio agriculture as a whole. In the past 26 years, the North American Free Trade Agreement has provided Ohio’s 75,000 farms with the benefits of free trade. As a result of trade with Canada and Mexico, food and agriculture has an impact of more than $105 billion to our state economy, while also employing 1 in 7 Ohioans. Since agriculture is Ohio’s No. 1 industry, a win for farmers is a win for every Ohio family and business.
