Protesters With No Masks, Distancing are ‘Devastatingly Worrisome,’ Birx Says
Around the country, COVID-19 protests are likely worsening the problem
As states face questions around reopening their economies, Dr. Deborah Bix, a White House coronavirus task force coordinator, said it was “devastatingly worrisome” that protesters challenging stay-at-home orders are gathering in proximity without masks or without heeding social distancing guidelines.
Here are some significant developments:
- The United States recorded nearly 13,500 more deaths are now attributed to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in March and the first two weeks of April.
- President Donald Trump moved to replace the top watchdog at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) after her office released a report on the shortages in testing and personal protective gear at hospitals during the coronavirus pandemic.
- Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said that he reversed course on requiring Ohioans to wear masks, calling the order “a bridge too far.”
