Food-allergy Management During the Pandemic
Getting kids back into classrooms has required school districts to adopt new policies and procedures that prioritize safety. Students with food allergies who are attending school in person during COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) bring additional health issues to manage.

That’s why the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the National Association of School Nurses recently released “Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis in School During COVID-19,” a document that provides guidance for school nurses regarding food-allergy management.

“School nurses are front-line providers of healthcare in schools and are in a unique position to be responsible for student health, safety, and learning,” said NASN Executive Director Donna Mazyck in a press release. “It is vital to have evidence-based considerations for managing students with food allergies during COVID-19.”
