COVID-19 Update: Second Straight Day of More Than 2,000 Confirmed Cases

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) released the latest statistics tied to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. ODH reported 2,047 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in addition to 86 hospitalizations today. This is the second day in a row the health department has reported at least 2,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases. 2,069 confirmed cases were reported Oct. 15, which is a daily record in Ohio.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine issued a warning in his press conference Wednesday, saying that Ohio could have a "tough winter" ahead as coronavirus cases and hospitalizations continue to increase.

It also reported 167,674 confirmed cases, 4,746 deaths and 16,755 hospitalizations. The department also reported 148,284 presumed recoveries. 

ODH also reported 10,317 probable cases and 308 additional deaths under an expanded case definition of COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
