COVID-19 Update: Surge Continues 7,660 Confirmed Cases Reported Today

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 7,660 newly confirmed cases and 185 hospitalizations. This is less than the single-day record of 7,839 confirmed cases reported by state health officials on Friday.

Over the past two weeks, the rolling average number of daily new cases has increased by more than 114 percent. 

According to an article from WBNS-10TV,  68 counties are now "Red" in the state's COVID-19 advisory system to track the spread of the virus. Franklin County was placed on the watch list for Level 4 (Purple) – "severe exposure and spread."

ODH also reported 282,550 confirmed cases, 5,373 deaths and 21,975 hospitalizations. The department also reported 202,937 presumed recoveries. ODH also reported 15,546 probable cases and 349 additional deaths under an expanded case definition of COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
