COVID-19 Update: 7,043 Newly Confirmed Cases, 208 Hospitalizations

Nov. 16, 2020

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 7,043 newly confirmed cases and 208 hospitalizations.

Trying to avoid a shutdown in the state, Mike DeWine on Monday stressed the need for Ohioans to "slow down." DeWine will make an announcement on Tuesday as the state looks to stop the spread of COVID-19. According to WBNS-10TV, he said the state is looking for a way to allow people to work and to keep kids in school.

"Instead of shutting down, we have to slow down and we have to slow down in our individual lives and our decisions about what we are doing," DeWine said.

ODH also reported 289,593 confirmed cases, 5,387 deaths and 22,183 hospitalizations. The department also reported 205,198 presumed recoveries.

ODH also reported 15,771 probable cases and 355 additional deaths under an expanded case definition of COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
