COVID-19 Update: 3,281 Cases Reported Today

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 3,281 new cases of COVID-19, 189 hospitalizations and 721 deaths. ODH says they are currently reconciling COVID-19 deaths, including about 650 in Thursday's count.
On Wednesday, ODH announced that as many as 4,000 COVID-19 deaths may have been underreported through the state's system between October and December. The agency said the daily reported death counts will be high for a two to three day period as these deaths are added to the counts.
ODH also reported 931,437 confirmed cases, 12,577 deaths and 48,269 hospitalizations. The department also reported 848,058 presumed recoveries from the virus. According to ODH, 1,161,056 people who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
ODH is now including antigen test results in the total number of cases (confirmed and probable). Governor Mike DeWine said antigen tests are "a bigger part of the overall picture of understanding COVID-19" and that it's important to capture that information.
