COVID-19 Update: 2,775 New Cases Reported Today

Feb. 23, 2021

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 2,775 new cases of COVID-19, 159 hospitalizations and 94 deaths. There is a disclaimer on the data saying the state continues to reconcile the data and the number of deaths will fluctuate.

Last week, ODH announced as many as 4,100 COVID-19 deaths may have been underreported through the state's system between October and December. The death counts had been higher for a few days because of the issue.

ODH also reported 958,153 confirmed cases, 16,968 deaths and 49,651 hospitalizations. The department also reported 894,113 presumed recoveries from the virus. According to the agency, 1,474,872 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

ODH is now including antigen test results in the total number of cases (confirmed and probable). Governor Mike DeWine said antigen tests are "a bigger part of the overall picture of understanding COVID-19" and that it's important to capture that information.
