ASAE Announces 2021 Sentinel Award Winners
The awards will honor lawmakers who championed nonprofits' inclusion in the PPP
The American Society of Association Executives' (ASAE) 2021 Sentinel Awards will be presented to Congressman Chris Pappas (D-NH), Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA). The awards will honor the Congressional leaders who championed the cause of including nonprofit associations and other 501(c)(6) organizations in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
The Sentinel Awards will be presented on March 25-26 during American Associations Day, ASAE’s annual fly-in to highlight meaningful ways that associations strengthen our economy and society.
“ASAE is proud to present U.S. Representatives Pappas and Fitzpatrick and U.S. Senators Cassidy and Manchin with its Sentinel Awards for championing association access to the Paycheck Protection Program. This critical financial relief for America’s COVID-affected associations has enabled thousands of associations to keep their doors open during the pandemic and continue to provide resources, education and support for America’s industries and professions,” said ASAE President and CEO Susan Robertson, CAE. “These congressional leaders in particular helped secure bipartisan, bicameral support for 501(c)(6) relief in recognition of the vital role associations play in the economy and society at large.”
Hundreds of association professionals will take this message to the Hill during American Associations Day: associations make the world safer, smarter and stronger every day. Every industry and profession relies on associations for workforce development, credentialing, standard-setting and other critical programs and services.
