This week, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) announced it would hear arguments on a Mississippi law that would ban abortions after the first 15 weeks of pregnancy, except in the case of medical emergencies. SCOTUS had already waded into the topic this summer when it refused to step in to stop the implementation of a Texas law that would ban abortion after six weeks.
