Professional Membership Tip: A 24/7 Benefit That Comes Through in the Clutch

Giving members what they need is a basic tenet of what associations do, but sometimes a great idea to help members can really hit it out of the ballpark.

In 2019, the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) launched a free crisis communications service for its members. PSBA partnered with the Donovan Group, a public relations firm that specializes in school communications, to provide its members with 24/7 support.

PSBA had no idea what 2020 had in store when it launched the program, which has become an even more value-added member benefit—beyond all expectations. "Little did we know that we would head into a time when school districts are faced with some pretty divisive and sensitive topics," said PSBA Chief Communications Officer Annette Stevenson. "It's been very timely."
