COVID-19 Update: 15,403 New Cases Reported Today

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 15,403 new cases of COVID-19 and 444 new hospitalizations. The agency also reported 60 additional deaths.

Last week, Ohio saw three days of record-high case numbers. Health officials reported nearly 16,000 cases on Dec. 23,  the highest number of cases in a "true" 24-hour period since the start of the pandemic. 

ODH also reported 1,955,403 confirmed cases, 28,780 deaths and 95,117 hospitalizations. The agency also reported 1,730,027 presumed recoveries and indicated approximately 6,960,596 Ohioans have received at least one dose of the vaccine. This figure represents approximately 60 percent of Ohioans - a very low figure compared to numbers nationwide.
