Happy Birthday, Ohio

The state was established more than 215 years ago

The Buckeye State marks 219 years since its founding on Tuesday.

Congress approved the state’s first constitution in early 1803, and President Thomas Jefferson signed it on Feb. 19.

On March 1, the state’s first governor, Edward Tiffin, and the General Assembly met in Chillicothe to conduct state business for the first time.
