GMID 2024 Highlights Why Meetings Matter

The annual event occurred April 11, 2024

Global Meetings Industry Day 2024 took place April 11, generating more awareness about the value of business meetings, trade shows, incentive travel, exhibitions, conferences and conventions to the global economy.

By the numbers: According to the U.S. Travel Association, GMID 2024 generated engagement in nearly 40 countries; almost 100 events and activations across the world; and more than 850 media mentions.

• OSAP and the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) supported GMID, along with more than 70 members of the Meetings Mean Business Coalition (MMBC).
• In 2023, there was $119 billion in meeting and event-related travel spending in the U.S. alone – supporting nearly 600,000 jobs.
• Extrapolated around the world, meetings have a significant global impact while driving education, knowledge and collaborative thinking in fields that are critical to our societal well-being.
