Ohio BWC Announces Availability of Private Employer True-up

Employers must file online by August 15, 2024

Today, the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) announced that true-up is now available for private employers. At the end of the policy year, the BWC must ensure the estimated premium it set for an employer was correct.

To do this, employers must file a true-up report that reflects the actual payroll for the policy year. Employers must complete the report online using the payroll true-up report service offering by August 15, 2024. The agency has a step-by-step video available for employers to walk them through the process.

If an employer's true-up exceeds the estimated payroll, they will owe additional premium. If their true-up payroll is less than the estimated payroll, the employer will receive a premium credit.
