AEP Ohio Says Cost of Electricity Will Increase Starting in June
Once again, it is raising the rates its customers pay
Ohio residents could start seeing higher electrical costs on their bills starting this summer.
Starting in June, electric customers in Ohio will likely pay about two cents more per kWh (kilowatt hour).
"The supply of reliable generation is not keeping up with the incredible demand that AEP Ohio and other utilities across the country are seeing, especially from data center customers," said Matthew McKenzie, vice president of regulatory and finance for AEP Ohio. "That means that the part of your bill that's tied to generation, that price is going up. I can tell you that we expect a monthly increase of about $27 a month to start June 1."
