A Surge of Freezing Air Will Hit the East Today

It could be the last of the season

One of the season’s final surges of freezing air is headed for some northern and eastern states beginning Tuesday, as are some strong winds and snow.

Across more than 20 states, temperatures will dip to levels more typical of March. Frosty conditions will stretch from the Dakotas to the Appalachians as windswept snowflakes fly across the Great Lakes and northern New England.

This comes after an April winter storm brought an unusually late accumulation of snow to the Northeast last weekend, covering daffodils and other early-blooming plants in the region.
