Ohio Loses More than an Hour of Daylight in August
By August 31, the state will lose more than 60 minutes of daylight
We've made it to August, and the days continue to get shorter and shorter.
After passing the Summer Solstice on June 21, each day has been getting slightly shorter; this will continue to through the Winter Solstice on Dec. 21. During the month of August, the state of Ohio will see a daylight drop of more than one hour between August 1 and 31.
For example, in Columbus, there are 14 hours and 14 minutes of daylight on the first, but that drops to 13 hours and eight minutes by August 31. That's a loss of 69 minutes of total daylight. And just a few days later on Sept. 3, the sun sets before 8:00 p.m.
